Founded as Harrisburg Truck Body over 80 years ago, the company has always been at the forefront of the truck upfit industry. The company was originally headquartered in Harrisburg until a bridge was built across the Susquehanna River in 1958, and they moved to the west shore. Back then, the company built many of the truck bodies from scratch, including casket bodies, along with repair work.
In 1985, the company was purchased by Steve Forrest from the Fleischman family. As a regional sales manager for Morgan Corporation in Morgantown, PA, the company was being passed to familiar hands with Steve. With new ownership came a new name for the company. Why was New inserted into the name? Because Forrest wanted to stress the energy that emanates from its employees and the multi-faceted services it offers. "People ask me, 'When's it not going to be new?' " he says. "I say, 'Never.' There's always going to be something new."
Since purchasing the company, Steve has built this company into a flourishing enterprise. Our facility now includes 25,000 square feet housed in three separate buildings, including our 56” long paint booth. A new line of casket bodies was introduced, business has increased tenfold, and we’ve become one of the largest distributors amongst our vendors. No matter the size or success rate of company, we’ve never strayed from the original company values of keeping it personal. Giving you the best options and remaining accessible at each step is paramount at our company.
